Mr. Belknap is an international design consultant, recognized for his collaborative and sustainable approach to large scale, multi-use commercial and urban planning projects throughout the world. With an design career spanning 38 years, Chris has a wide range of experience in large scale resort / hospitality design, commercial retail projects and urban planning. In addition over the course of his career, he has designed numerous exclusive custom residential projects primarily in Hawaii and Colorado.
He is the author and founder of series of visionary initiatives that included Hawaii Aloha 2000 (1986-1987), a vision of Hawaii as model for sustainable development in the Pacific. Chris initiated and led four major Community Based Visionary Planning Events in Honolulu over the course of 10-years 1986 to1996 to advance sustainable development in Hawaii with global long view. In addition he developed a series of concepts for fully Sustainable Eco Villages and Sustainable Cities for the 21st Century in several proposals made during the time he was based in Honolulu.
As an international design consultant, Mr. Belknap has assisted in the design of a wide range of diverse projects that include the $1.5 billion Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada (1997-99) working under WATG Architects. Through his consulting design services, he has also applied a number of the sustainable design planning concepts developed in Hawaii to a series of the largest urban master planning efforts in the Middle East and in China (1999-2008), and to the launching of GrowGreen Power Inc. in 2008.
From 2008 to the present his primary focus has been on developing a comprehensive National vision and development plan called The American SMART CITIES | CLEAN ENERGY Initiative -2050 that can be viewed at the websites DesignEARTHsynergy.com and GrowGreenPower2.com
Chris went to the University of Colorado – Boulder, and received a Bachelor of Environmental Design Degree in 1975 and a Masters of Architecture Degree in 1977. Originally licensed as an Architect in the State of Colorado in 1980 (note: Colorado license is not current at present), he moved to Hawaii in 1980 and then moved to Southern California in 1997 where he continues to hold his Hawaii Architects License.
